Job summary

Mavis Tires & Brakes at Discount Prices is hiring full-time Automotive Mechanics to join Team Mavis at one of our service centers in the Arlington Heights, IL area. You will inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide range of automotive services on customers' vehicles.

Responsibilities include brakes, suspensions, oil changes, and tire mounting/balancing, along with state inspections and preventive maintenance. We offer competitive weekly pay and benefits, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience and/or training in automotive repair and maintenance.
• Extensive personal tool box for undercar repairs.
• Preferably a state inspection license.
• Preferably ASE certifications: Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide variety of automotive services on customers' vehicles.
• Handle undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, and shocks.
• Complete state-mandated inspections, change oil and filters, check fluids, replace worn parts.
• Dismount, mount, rotate, and balance tires.
• Maintain a good working environment and adhere to safety standards.

About the Position of Automotive Mechanic

As Mavis's leaders in undercar repairs, the automotive mechanics are trusted to inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide variety of automotive services on customers' vehicles. They handle undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, and shocks, and are responsible for completing state‑mandated inspections, changing oil and filters, checking fluids, replacing worn parts, and dismounting, mounting, rotating, and balancing tires.

Physical Demands

Automotive mechanics must stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach and perform repeated and repetitive movements. They must regularly lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
