Job summary

Mavis Tires & Brakes at Discount Prices is seeking full-time Automotive Mechanics at our Niles, IL location. You will inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide range of services, including brakes, struts, shocks, oil changes, tire work, and state inspections.

We offer paid time off and a robust benefits package as part of Team Mavis. You will need at least 2 years of experience or training, a toolbox of personal tools, and the ability to lift heavy items daily.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience and/or training in automotive repair and maintenance.
• Possess an extensive toolbox of personal tools for undercar repairs.
• State inspection licenses are preferred.
• ASE certifications in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide range of automotive services.
• Conduct in‑car maintenance and undercar repairs including brakes, struts, shocks.
• Perform state inspections, oil and filter changes, check fluids, replace worn parts.
• Dismount, mount, rotate, and balance tires.
• Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction and workmanship.

About the Position of Automotive Mechanic

As Mavis’s leaders in undercar repairs, automotive mechanics are trusted to inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide variety of automotive services on customers’ vehicles. They handle in‑car maintenance and a full range of undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, and shocks. Mechanics also complete state‑mandated inspections, change oil and filters, check fluids, replace worn parts, and dismount, mount, rotate, and balance tires.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Possess two years of experience and/or training in automotive repair and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Possess an extensive toolbox of personal tools used in performing undercar repairs.

The following additional qualifications are preferred:

• State inspection license(s).
• ASE certifications in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

As an active position, automotive mechanics are required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repeated movements consistent with vehicle maintenance and automotive repair. Mechanics must regularly lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
