Job summary

Cox Automotive in Inkster, MI is seeking an Automotive Mechanic Technician I to perform preventive maintenance, inspections and basic repairs on customer vehicles. The role supports safety and efficiency by identifying mechanical issues and executing repairs under supervision as needed.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, a valid driver's license, and at least 1 year of vehicle service experience. You must be willing to work weekdays with occasional weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
• 1+ years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Must be able to work days, afternoons, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Must continue training to maintain status and to meet with technology and fleet changes as they occur.

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventive Maintenance: oil changes, filter changes, battery checks, and vehicle inspections.
• Perform some repairs and diagnostics.
• Based on certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance including OBD II systems, brakes, tires, tune-ups, suspension, electrical, engine components.
• Keep the shop area clean and safe; dispose of fluids properly.
• Inspection must be completed to a high standard.
• Ability to work independently or in a team; self-driven.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Automotive Mechanic Technician I

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6AM - 2:30PM

An entry-level vehicle technician provides high-quality vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs for vehicles. Provides exceptional service to customers and is mindful of the control of costs and time frames. The technician may work independently or in a team environment.

• Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, Battery replacement, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
• Performs some repairs and diagnostics.
• Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, interior/exterior components, engine and drive-line components, etc.
• Keep the shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
• Inspection must be completed at a higher standard.
• Ability to work independently, and self-driven.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
