It is a hands‑on position covering preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair across engine, drivetrain, brake, electrical, cooling, and emissions systems, with the goal of keeping every vehicle safe, compliant, and available. The mechanic works with drivers and fleet coordinators to schedule work, keeps accurate service records, and responds to breakdowns in the field when needed.

Physical Description

Employees in these positions will work primarily in a vehicle maintenance shop and outdoors in a fleet yard, with occasional road calls to field locations. They will use vehicle lifts, jacks and stands, hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop computers to inspect, maintain, and repair fleet vehicles. They will collaborate with drivers, fleet coordinators, and vendors, document work orders, and communicate information effectively.

These positions involve standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working under and around vehicles, and may include exposure to noise, fumes, fuels, lubricants, and varying weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and protective footwear is required. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, may handle heavier items with assistance or lifting equipment, and may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to support fleet availability.
