Job summary

WAYNE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic to repair and overhaul gasoline and diesel motor equipment for district vehicles and school buses. Responsibilities include ensuring DOT-compliant maintenance and assisting with building and grounds upkeep.

The role requires a CDL Class B license (or training available), a clean driving record, and the ability to work with students and staff, with a typical probationary schedule from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Hold current CDL license, Class B license or training is available.
• Meet Civil Service & DMV Article 19 qualifications.
• Have a clean driving record.
• Demonstrates ability to work with children, staff and community.

• Performs skilled operations in the repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel motor equipment, including cars, trucks, tractors, buses and other school equipment.
• Ensures all vehicles are maintained in accordance with DOT standards, identifies issues to be corrected and makes recommendations to the Head Mechanic.
• Assists in the maintenance of the physical building and grounds.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• May act as a substitute school bus driver as needed.
