Job summary

Jenks Public Schools Transportation in Jenks, Oklahoma is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to maintain and repair the district's bus and automotive fleet. The position starts immediately and runs as a twelve-month classified hourly contract.

Primary duties include diagnosing and repairing buses and fleet equipment, performing major repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance while upholding safety standards and teamwork with staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid State School bus certification and all health and employment standards required.
• Technical training and/or appropriate years experience set by Board.
• Commercial Drivers License required (will train).
• Good aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

• Knowledge of major repair to buses and all district automotive fleet, including gasoline and diesel overhaul, transmissions, workbench overhaul, and welding.
• Proficiency and qualification to operate all buses, support, and service vehicles.
• Uses preventive maintenance to all automotive fleet and shop equipment, maintaining a high quality of workmanship, safety standards, good housekeeping, and a cooperative attitude with co-workers.
• Drive bus route, as necessary.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Position: Automotive Mechanic

Reports to: Automotive Mechanic Foreperson/Coordinator

Supervises: None

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.

Position Goal: To keep all district vehicles and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
