Job summary

Avis Budget Group is hiring for an entry-level automotive technician role in Indianapolis, IN. You will perform preventive maintenance and light repairs on a fleet of box trucks and cargo vans, gaining hands-on experience across brands.

You’ll start with essential maintenance tasks, with opportunities to assist senior techs and develop diagnostics skills. This on-site position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and a valid license.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C).
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or prior auto maintenance experience.
• Comfortable working in a mechanical shop with moderate to loud noise levels.
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles.
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.
• 6 months auto maintenance experience or completion of an automotive technical school program is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and light repair work on our fleet of box trucks and cargo vans, including oil and fluid services, tire repairs and rotations, and quality-focused completion of tasks.
• Assist more experienced technicians with additional repairs and diagnostics as skills develop.
• May be required to drive a Budget Truck on public roads for testing or operational needs.
• Contribute to customer safety, vehicle availability, and a smooth rental experience by maintaining and ensuring vehicle reliability.
