Job summary

UPS in West Carrollton, OH is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to join the fleet maintenance team. You will maintain a diverse range of vehicles including delivery trucks, heavy-duty tractors, and trailers, with propulsion systems spanning diesel, gasoline, CNG, LNG, propane, hybrid, and some electric models.

You will troubleshoot electrical and engine controls, hydraulic brakes, and air brakes, operate standard and manual transmissions, use diagnostic equipment and scan tools, and perform DOT

Qualifications

  • Active state-issued driver’s license.
  • CDL Class A or B required.
  • 5 years of journeyman automotive mechanic experience with medium/heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
  • DOT inspections experience.

Responsibilities

  • Meet DOT requirements for job assignment.
  • Inspect and repair a range of fleet vehicles and trailers.
  • Operate standard and manual transmissions and power tools.

Job Description

Seeking a reliable Automotive Mechanic to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team.

The Automotive Technician will be responsible for maintaining a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. These vehicles' propulsion systems include diesel, gasoline, and alternative technologies such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations. Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining various systems, including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment
  • Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday
  • Sits infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday
  • Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Operates standard and manual transmission
  • Operates power and pneumatic tools
Requirements
  • Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift, Monday-Friday
  • Must possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment
  • CDL Class A or B - Required
  • Current documented 5 years of experience - Journeyman Automotive Mechanic experience working with medium and heavy-duty vehicles
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
  • Hands-on experience with fleet repairs and/or dealership environments
  • Experience performing DOT Inspections
  • Dependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workday on a consistent basis
  • Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required
  • Works in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
  • Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
  • Communicates effectively through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The starting pay for this position is $40.34 per hour.
