Job summary

Protech Automotive Solutions is seeking an Automotive Installation Technician to support GPS/telematics installations and onboarded fleet services in Fridley, MN. You will install, test, and troubleshoot 12V/24V electrical systems on light-duty and fleet vehicles, while ensuring safety and right-first-time quality.

You will work with cutting-edge fleet technology, travel to customer sites, and participate in hands-on training and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
• Occasionally work weekends or adjusted schedules to support projects.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations.
