Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC in Portland, OR seeks a software architect and debugger to shape the Driver Experience domain for our HMI ECUs. You will lead architecture, prototyping, validation, and release for instrument cluster software using Qt and C++.

Collaboration spans global teams across Germany, India, and the US. The role offers a starting salary of $117,000–$150,000 USD with a hybrid schedule (4 days in-office, 1 day remote).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing complex graphical user interfaces using Qt, OpenGL, React, Svelte, or comparable frameworks.
• Strong software engineering skills in modern C++, OO design, and maintainable architecture.
• Experience embedded automotive software and with Git, CI/CD, automated builds and testing.
• Ability to communicate decisions across global teams; proactive and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain automotive HMI software for embedded platforms using Qt and C++.
• Implement customer-facing instrument cluster features and visualizations.
• Translate system and UX requirements into robust software solutions.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers and engineers across multiple countries to align requirements and implementation.
• Participate in design and code reviews; support integration, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
• Define and drive software development standards, guidelines, and quality metrics.
• Ensure compliance with functional safety and cybersecurity requirements; mentor team members.
