Job summary

Stellantis in Auburn, AL seeks Advanced Vehicle Systems Engineer to lead investigation and root-cause analysis of complex customer vehicle issues unresolved after dealer diagnosis. Role spans powertrain, electrical, chassis, and connected vehicle technologies; ability to work onsite at dealerships and remotely.

You will guide cross-functional teams, use CAN/LIN networks, and diagnostic tools (CANalyzer, wiTECH, Stellantis CDA) to validate issues and drive permanent solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related quantitative or technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive electronic hardware and/or software, including automotive product design and release, resident engineering, or component manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in structured problem‑solving and advanced root‑cause analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle communication networks, including CAN, diagnostic trouble codes, diagnostic procedures, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data analytics tools to identify patterns, trends, and emerging vehicle issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage suppliers, dealers, cross‑functional teams, and all levels of management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross‑functional collaboration across Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and Dealer Service teams to drive issues from initial diagnosis through validated resolution.
  • Demonstrate strong triage and root‑cause analysis capabilities across the vehicle ecosystem, including propulsion, electrical, connectivity, and drivetrain systems on ICE, hybrid, and BEV vehicles.
  • Locate, interpret, and apply vehicle specifications, schematics, technical documentation, and engineering data to support root‑cause analysis.
  • Provide diagnostic direction and mentor others in structured root‑cause methodologies, vehicle diagnostic procedures, and the effective use of specialized tools.
  • Document diagnostic findings, supporting evidence, repair recommendations, ownership, and service actions accurately and clearly.
