Job summary

Island Tech Services in Bangor, Maine is hiring a full-time Auto Installer with pay up to $28/hour for the right experience. You'll build and customize emergency vehicles with lighting, radios, wiring, and other equipment.

This hands-on role requires working from in-person shop facilities, following safety standards, diagnosing issues, and collaborating with a team to meet project deadlines. Prior upfitting experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform custom installations of emergency lighting, sirens, radios, partitions, and other vehicle components.
• Wire and test electronic components to ensure proper function and safety.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems as needed.
• Follow established procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
• Document work performed, including parts used and time spent, in accordance with company and client requirements.
• Collaborate with other technicians and team members to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and care for all tools and equipment.
• Stay updated with the latest vehicle upfitting technology and best practices.

Do you have hands-on experience installing car stereos, lighting, alarms, 12V electronics, wiring, or similar equipment? You may already have the skills we're looking for.

Island Tech Services is hiring a full-time Auto Installer at our Bangor, Maine location, with pay up to $28/hour for the right experience.

You do not need previous emergency vehicle upfitting experience. If you're comfortable working with wiring, electrical components, stereo or accessory installation, lighting, or similar hands-on equipment, we'd like to talk with you.

In this role, you'll build and customize police, fire, and emergency response vehicles with the lighting, sirens, radios, electronics, partitions, and other equipment first responders rely on every day.

This is hands-on work where no two builds are exactly the same - and you'll go home knowing you worked on something that actually matters.
