Automotive & Diesel Technician (3rd Shift) (Maintenance)

Job Description

Summary/Objective

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for satisfactorily completing all repairs, major or minor, on all SARTA vehicles and executing essential functions independently.

Essential Functions

1. Operate all SARTA vehicles proficiently. Applicants without a current CDL-B with appropriate endorsements must obtain a permit with proper endorsements before employment.
2. Perform major and minor repairs.
3. Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on all SARTA vehicles.
4. Perform safety audits on vehicles.

Competencies

1. Knowledge of heavy-duty gasoline and diesel engines, bus, truck, and car frames, and undercarriage components.
2. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not oversee any direct reports.

Work Environment

Primarily shop environment, occasionally exposed to weather and elements.

Position Hours

Shift as per union contract: Monday-Friday, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts available. Off on Saturday and Sunday.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience with maintenance on commercial vehicles.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate all company vehicles.
• Valid Ohio Driver's License with a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of CNG and/or electric (hydrogen) powered engines.
