Job summary

Gilbert's Family of Companies in Okeechobee, FL is seeking an experienced Diesel Service Technician to join our dealership service team. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engine systems and related components to factory specifications.

You will test-drive vehicles, use diagnostic tools, and communicate findings clearly to customers. We offer ASE certification reimbursement, paid training, competitive wages, a family-owned environment, and a schedule that keeps Sundays closed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of diesel service experience with knowledge of diesel systems.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills.
• Customer-service oriented and ability to work in a team.
• Basic computer skills for vehicle systems and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on diesel vehicles following dealership policies.
• Test-drive vehicles and use diagnostic tools to identify issues.
• Diagnose, maintain and repair engine, electrical, braking and other systems.
• Communicate repair needs and estimates to the Service Advisor and customers.
• Complete repairs within quoted time while ensuring quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership policies and procedures.
• Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are well-informed of any additional services needed.
• Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.
• Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Diesel Service Technician experience required
• ASE Certification required
• A-level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
• Broad knowledge of new vehicle technologies
• Ambitious, hardworking presence in a team environment
• Basic computer skills
• Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
• Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
• Ability to collaborate effectively
• Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
• Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
