Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Design Engineer for a Randburg-based role with a hybrid work model that blends on-site collaboration and remote work.

You will design automotive components using CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks), create detailed 3D models and drawings, and prepare specifications for manufacturing. Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing and styling to ensure design feasibility and integration.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical/automotive engineering.
• Experience as Automotive Design Engineer or similar.
• Strong CAD and 3D modeling skills.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and technically proficient Automotive Design Engineer to contribute to their innovative vehicle development team based in Randburg . You will be involved in the conceptualization, design, and development of automotive components and systems, utilizing advanced CAD software and engineering principles. This role offers a hybrid work model, blending on-site collaboration with the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to shape the aesthetics and functionality of future vehicles in a key Gauteng hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive components and systems using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).
• Create detailed 3D models,2D drawings, and technical specifications for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and styling, to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Conduct design reviews and simulations to validate performance and identify potential issues.
• Research and implement new materials and manufacturing processes to optimize designs.
• Contribute to the overall vehicle design language and innovation strategy.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as an Automotive Design Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software and3D modeling techniques.
• Solid understanding of automotive component design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., FEA) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
