Job summary

Flexcar is seeking an Automotive Technician/Mechanic for our onsite shop in Houston, TX. The role is full-time, non-exempt, with a $20/hr starting rate plus full benefits and a tool package.

You’ll service a diverse fleet and gain hands-on experience across 209 vehicle models while growing with a fast‑moving company. Applicants should have automotive repair experience, be comfortable using tools and shop equipment, and be able to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Two-plus years of automotive repair experience preferred.
• Ability to identify and order parts and maintain supplies.
• Comfort using hand tools and shop equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Identify, order, and maintain parts and supplies for vehicles.
• Perform mechanical repairs: oil changes, tire work, battery installations, filters, bulbs, and wiper replacements.
• Conduct inspections and note underbody and suspension issues.
• Follow standard operating procedures and maintain a clean, safe workspace.

Under minimal supervision, the Automotive Technicians will perform all processes necessary to complete basic mechanical and cosmetic repairs on fleet vehicles followingFlexcar'spolicies and procedures.

WhatYou’llDo:

• Identify, order, and maintain correct supplies and partsin order toproperly service vehicles.

• Understand how toproperly usehand tools, chemicals, and all shop equipment.

• Perform mechanical repairsincluding:Oil changes, tire changes, tire rotations, battery installations, air filter replacements, light bulb replacements, windshield wiper exchanges.

• Perform mechanical inspectionsincluding:Tire inspections, brake inspections (visual), underbody damage inspections, suspensionshake-downs(assess forballjointand tie-rod issues)

• FollowFlexcarstandard operating procedures at all times.

• Keepworkplacefree and clear of hazards, according to 5S standards.

• Review work orders for accuracy of work performed and parts installed.

• Use of computers, including internal and external technologysystemsin order tocomplete daily assignments.

• Assistin onboarding other new associates by passing along knowledge and being a good team player.

• Provide support to other associates and managers as needed.

• Perform all work within standardized cycle times

What Drives Success for this Role:

• Flexibility toworkdays, evenings,weekendsand/or holidays.

• Willingness to work invaryingweather conditions.

• Ability to carry tools and supplies up to 75lbs.

• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (per company standards)

• 2+ years of automotive repair experience is preferred, but notrequired

• At least 18 years old
