Job summary

Porsche Cars North America, located in Atlanta, GA, seeks a Body Craftsman/Craftswoman to support restoration, preservation, and repair services to factory standards. You will assist in estimating, planning, and completing projects, while ensuring quality and customer handoff.

This role collaborates with the Classic Team to meet KPIs and defines improvement plans. Ideal candidates have extensive Porsche body experience, strong communication, and leadership abilities, with attention to deadlines

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in vehicle body repair and restoration services, full body and components.
  • Body work experience on aluminum and steel; carbon fiber and carbon Kevlar connections.
  • 5 years' experience in concours level vehicle maintenance, repair, and manufacturing.
  • 5 years' experience in vehicle body work of classic Porsche vehicles and modern Porsche vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and perform vehicle body services to Porsche factory standards.
  • Assist in vehicle and component painting operations.
  • Support body shop operations including material management and scheduling.
  • Support paint booth operations including material management and scheduling.
  • Review repair orders, maintain production status database, discuss work with supervisors.
  • Interact with vehicle owners.
  • Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals as needed.
  • Locate parts and materials, synchronize workflow and coordinate vehicle cycles.
  • Create and support cost estimates for repairs including labor time and materials.
  • Plan work procedures using charts, manuals, and check quality parameters.

Job Description

Corestaff is the official MSP resourcing partner for Porsche Cars North America for contractor positions operating and managing their nationwide contingent workforce program. This role is a Corestaff contract position with placement at Porsche Cars North America in Atlanta, GA.

The Body Craftsman/Craftswoman role is an integral role of our Sonderwunsch Factory business unit conducting restoration, preservation, personalization, and repair services consistent to Porsche factory standards. This role supports the head of the paint and body workshops including execution of all projects. They will assist in preparation of customer estimates and project plans, participate in end of project Quality reviews, and prepare Completed Project Vehicles for customer delivery. Finally, this individual will contribute to the development and implementation of the Classic Factory Restoration and Sonderwunsch strategies.

Primary responsibilities
  • Recommend and perform vehicle body services on but not limited to all exterior vehicle components to Porsche factory standards.
  • Assist in vehicle and component painting operations
  • Support the body shop operations including material management and scheduling
  • Support the paint booth operations including material management and scheduling
  • Review repair orders, maintain production status database, and discuss work with supervisors.
  • Interact with vehicle owning customers.
  • Ability to explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.
  • Find parts and available materials, synchronize workflow and coordinate vehicle cycle and put together parts and material, visually check for identity and errors, report material availability to managers
  • Create and support cost estimates for repairs including labor time and materials
  • Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and check the quality parameters and completeness of the work carried out on the basis of the content of procedures
  • Examine vehicles and framework for defects, make repairs as needed prior to paint application and other finish work
  • Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined
  • Monitor and work closely with the Classic Team to achieve the Porsche Classic and Factory Restoration qualitative and quantitative targets (KPIs). Define plans to improve them if necessary
  • Perform care and cleaning work according to the plan or as needed of parts, vehicle or work space
  • Correct deficiencies and perform final inspection of vehicles or the assembly; implement safety procedures
  • Directs, teaches and guides the work of junior or in-training technicians
  • Maintain necessary training to meet Porsche Classic Standards
  • Manage and report on project execution, problem solve with supervisors to improve workshop efficiency
  • Perform 5S in the bodyshop and support throughout the full facility
Qualifications
  • Automotive technical degree preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Required qualifications include
  • 5 years experience in vehicle body repair and restoration services, full body and components
  • Body work experience on various substrate materials such as aluminum and steel, and in connection to carbon fiber and carbon Kevlar
  • 5 years' experience in concours level vehicle maintenance, repair, and manufacturing
  • 5 years' experience in vehicle body work of classic Porsche vehicles
  • 5 years' experience in vehicle body work of modern Porsche vehicles
Preferred qualification include
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Fluency in English (oral/written)
  • Highly organized, target oriented mindset, works well without close supervision
  • Ability to set and meet challenging deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High possession of Porsche passion
  • German language a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of Classic range of Porsche Vehicles
  • Excellent knowledge of Porsche interior parts
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Experience with Porsche PET2 system desired
  • Experience with CDK software desired
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle
