Job summary

Berlin City Kia is seeking an Experienced Advanced Express Technician to join our Portland, OR service team. You will perform routine maintenance and light repairs while developing toward a full-line technician role, with starting pay of $25.00-$27.00 per hour and strong advancement opportunities.

You’ll work with service advisors and seasoned technicians to identify vehicle needs, provide accurate estimates, and uphold dealership standards.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive maintenance or express‑service experience.
• Working knowledge of brakes, tires, alignments, batteries, and routine maintenance.
• Desire to expand beyond basic oil changes and tire rotations.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance and repair orders according to dealership standards.
• Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid services.
• Inspect tires for wear and perform mounting/balancing/repair.
• Inspect brakes and replace pads/rotors and related components.
• Perform wheel alignments and diagnose steering/suspension concerns.
• Test and replace batteries and perform basic electrical checks.
• Replace filters, bulbs, belts, hoses, wiper blades and other minor components.
• Conduct multipoint vehicle inspections and document findings clearly.
• Communicate mechanical findings to service advisors and assist with troubleshooting.
• Road‑test vehicles to verify repairs and performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with vehicle technology.

Position Overview:

As an Advanced Express Technician, you will perform routine maintenance, light mechanical repairs, inspections, and entry-level diagnostic work. Responsibilities may include oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, alignments, battery replacement, fluid services, and other minor repairs.

You will work closely with service advisors and experienced technicians to identify vehicle needs, make accurate recommendations, and ensure every repair meets dealership and manufacturer standards. This role offers continued hands‑on training and a clear path toward becoming a full‑line technician.

What You’ll Do:

• Complete maintenance and repair orders efficiently and according to dealership and manufacturer standards
• Perform oil and filter changes, tire rotations, fluid services, and other scheduled maintenance
• Inspect tires for wear or damage and perform tire mounting, balancing, repair, and replacement
• Perform brake inspections and replace brake pads, rotors, and related components
• Complete wheel alignments and identify basic steering or suspension concerns
• Test and replace batteries and perform basic electrical system checks
• Replace filters, bulbs, belts, hoses, wiper blades, and other minor components
• Perform comprehensive multipoint vehicle inspections
• Identify additional maintenance and repair needs and clearly document all findings
• Conduct basic diagnostic testing and assist with troubleshooting vehicle concerns
• Provide accurate labor and time estimates for recommended repairs
• Communicate mechanical findings clearly to service advisors
• Road‑test vehicles when appropriate to verify repairs and vehicle performance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Participate in technical training to stay current with changing vehicle technology
• Follow all dealership safety procedures and quality‑control standards
