Job summary

Hoffer Plastics Corporation is seeking an Automation Technician in Illinois to repair and maintain all automated machinery and auxiliary equipment, ensuring smooth production across plastic components. The role emphasizes problem solving, safety, and continuous improvement.

The position offers a starting pay range of $32.00–$42.00 per hour based on experience, with a 2nd shift from 3:30am to 12:30am, full training, extensive benefits, and opportunities for growth within a long-standing

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree in a related field.
• 5 years PLC programming experience with systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
• Experience troubleshooting and improving Electrical Control, Vision System, PLC Systems, Robotics and continuous motion systems strongly preferred.
• Mechanical comprehension as well as strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical applications and blueprints
• Must be able to read and interpret prints and diagrams
• Strong general computer skills including CAD (Solidworks and/or ProE)

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all automated devices used for runner removal, part handling, separation or packing.
• Maintain all machinery located at the press or in the Assembly department used in secondary operations.
• Maintain all auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnose trouble, disassemble, and determine extent of repairs necessary.
• Perform problem analysis and problem resolution to improve equipment performance.
• Organize and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Make up repair parts, replace defective components.
• Perform welding and sheet metal operations involved in repairing equipment.
• Operate lathe, vertical mill, drill press and grinders as required.
• Occasionally direct an assigned helper.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Observe safety rules and wear prescribed PPE.
• All team members shall maintain a positive work atmosphere and pursue continuous improvement.
