Job summary

Momentum Midstream in Longview, TX seeks an Automation Technician to manage operation and maintenance of instruments and electrical equipment across plants and facilities. You will perform routine calibrations, tests, repairs and data logging while supporting installation, startup and programming of control systems.

The role requires a strong electronics and PLC background, safety compliance, and the ability to coordinate with operators, vendors and managers. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in plant and compression instrumentation and electrical work.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation drawings.
  • Strong background in electronics, computers, programming, control systems and PLCs.
  • Strong background in medium and low voltage AC/DC electrical installation, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management regulations and practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under company policy.
  • Background check and drug testing required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine operational and calibration checks on instruments and safety/control equipment.
  • Test, calibrate, and repair safety, control, shut down and analytical devices on a scheduled basis.
  • Maintain instrument data log sheets and preventive maintenance system.
  • Calibrate and adjust instruments to correct abnormal operation; report to supervisors.
  • Maintain spare parts inventories for critical safety equipment.
  • Assist in installation, calibration, start-up and programming of instruments and control equipment.
  • Maintain computer equipment and software for plant and office operations when needed.
  • Maintain test equipment inventory in ready condition.
  • Maintain company communication systems and SCADA/microwave systems.
  • Maintain electrical systems (medium/low voltage AC/DC).
  • Adhere to safety/environmental requirements and participate in program reviews.
  • Handle additional duties and projects as assigned.

Job Title: Automation Technician- Longview

Location: Longview, TX

  • Makes routine operational and calibration checks on instruments, safety and control equipment, measurement equipment, gas and liquid analyzers and communications systems.
  • Tests, calibrates, and repairs safety, control, shut down and analytical devices on a regularly scheduled basis. Develops and maintains such schedules.
  • Maintains instrument and control equipment data log sheets and computer based preventive maintenance system.
  • Makes routine and emergency calibrations and adjustments to correct abnormal operation of instruments and controllers and reports such conditions and corrective actions to operators and supervisor.
  • Maintains spare parts inventories for critical safety equipment and spare parts deemed necessary for reliable plant operation.
  • Maintains instruments and control equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Assists in installation, calibration, start-up, commissioning and programming of instruments and control equipment.
  • Maintains computer equipment and software for plant and office operations when necessary.
  • Maintains test equipment inventory in ready condition.
  • Maintains company communication systems including telephone, radio, SCADA system and microwave system.
  • Maintains medium, and low voltage AC and DC electrical systems.
  • Adheres to all Company Safety and Environmental requirements and participates in program development and reviews.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs work related to operation and maintenance of instruments and control as well as electrical equipment at plant and field facilities, including processing plants, compressors, compressor stations and dehydration equipment. Presents a positive and professional image to customers, vendors, employees, and the public.

Education, Experience, & Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in plant and compression instrumentation and electrical work. The six-year requirement may be modified depending on qualifications.
  • Must have working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation drawings.
  • Must have a strong background in electronics, computers, programming, control systems and PLC’s.
  • Must have a strong background in medium and low voltage AC and DC electrical installation, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and electronic engine/compressor control systems, gas detection and emergency shut down system, operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Must have detailed understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations and operating practices.
  • Working knowledge and skill using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must have valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and criminal history background check, and will be subject to random, for-cause and post-accident drug testing, in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
