Job summary

Kenco Logistics is seeking an Automation Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve our ASRS. You will work closely with operations to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and support our goals at Kenco Fleet Services.

Responsibilities include diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and documentation, with travel around 25% and a strong emphasis on safety and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of mechanic experience; preferably with repair and maintenance of automated systems and conveyors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment and systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

  • Use repair and parts manuals to troubleshoot automated systems, including conveyors.
  • Communicate damages to onsite personnel with detailed problem descriptions.

About the Position

As an Automation Technician I, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS).

This role involves working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure the ASRS and related equipment perform reliably and efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting our operational goals at Kenco Fleet Services.

Functions
  • Perform regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on ASRS and related automation equipment, ensuring minimal downtime with OSHA and operational standards.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities in elevated work areas, including the use of fall protection equipment in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to optimize ASRS system performance, including adjustments to improve efficiency, reliability, and throughput.
  • Maintain parts inventory and repair records for all equipment by completing accurate paperwork.
  • Assist with the development of, and maintain preventative maintenance documentation on system configurations, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides; monitor maintenance checklists to ensure efficient equipment operation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols while performing maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Use repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot all automated systems to include all conveyor systems.
  • Communicate abuse or damages to onsite personnel with a detailed description of the problem.
  • Responsible for general cleanliness of service area.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate required.
  • 0 – 2 years of mechanic experience; preferably prior experience with repair and maintenance, automated systems, and conveyors, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment and systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical team members.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, highly responsible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely operate lift trucks, scissor lifts and boom lifts.

Travel Requirements

This position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less. A passport is not required, but recommended.
