Job description

Oxy is looking for an experienced and motivated Automation System Integrator to work within our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management Business Unit based in Casper, Wyoming.

Responsibilities
  • Execute Automation Engineering deliverables by programming and/or installing PLC programs and validating compliance to engineering design.
  • Support Automation Engineering with design and control systems improvements and oversee automation electrical design.
  • Assist with commissioning of facilities, including PLC programming development, HMI/LOI design, and program testing/debugging.
  • Maintain project schedules, status reports, and participate in project meetings and design reviews.
  • Develop and validate automation programs ensuring compliance with documentation.
  • Use PLC software (RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, DirectSoft5, ROCLINK 800/DS800), HMI programs (Red Lion Crimson, Factory Talk View, Panelview), RTUs, and support troubleshooting.
  • Complete redlines and documentation for automation engineering (C&Es, P&IDs, 1-lines) for AS‑BUILT post‑commissioning.
  • Follow Management of Change (MOC) process and Oxy program standardization best practices.
  • Provide training to colleagues on automation control system functions and assist in developing training materials.
  • Support low VAC devices, troubleshoot 120V AC power and manage 480V or lower AC power issues.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and install automation end devices, utilizing Hart communicators and multimeters.
  • Identify and troubleshoot Ethernet, serial, satellite, and wireless field communications.
  • Ensure alarm settings meet Oxy standards and proper change control protocols.
  • Communicate project activities with Asset Teams and support operations as a liaison for automation engineering design.
  • Assist in evaluation of new technologies and provide pros/cons analysis.
  • Participate in Oxy Process Improvement Teams.
  • Travel as needed for unassigned job areas and work 12‑hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business units, maintaining safety for co‑workers, contractors, and the public.
Qualifications
  • 2‑year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year as Automation Specialist/Tech.
  • 7+ years as Automation Integrator/Programmer.
  • 3+ years of oil field process facilities experience.
Preferred
  • 4‑year technical degree (Bachelor’s in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering, Automation Control Systems or related field.)
  • Advanced knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, POCs (Allan Bradley, Totalflow, ROCs, Coriolis).
  • Intermediate knowledge of API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA standards.
  • Advanced understanding of PSSRs and MOCs.
  • Expertise in digital/analog I/O programming, troubleshooting, serial and Ethernet communications.
  • Experience with tagging conventions, simulation, testing, and safe work systems.
  • Experience with Electrical/Automation construction codes and practices.
  • Strong time‑management, budgeting, gas engineering principles, and MS Office skills.
  • Leadership, mentoring, training, communication, and analytical skills.
