Our North American Semiconductor group is searching for an experienced Automation Software Enginee r at our R&D Technology Center in Reno, Nevada, minutes from the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Discover more about this area by visiting https : / / www.visitrenotahoe.com

In this exciting role, you will

  • Design and generate wiring diagrams and electrical schematics for automation systems using common schematic CAD tools.
  • Assemble, wire, and test automation control panels and systems, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and power supplies.
  • Develop and deploy software / firmware for control systems, including embedded firmware, or industrial software applications.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to ensure full system integration.
  • Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems and software both in-house and in the field.
  • Maintain documentation for all phases of system development and support.

You will bring the following skills and knowledge :

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficient in electrical schematic design tools
  • Programming experience for Windows, Linux and / or embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience with system wiring, panel building and debugging

Strongly Desired :

  • 2+ years of experience in automation systems design and integration.
  • Experience with Beckhoff industrial automation equipment
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols (EtherCAT, DeviceNet, Modbus)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Subversion and Git preferred)
  • Familiarity with bug tracking and development support tools, in particular Atlassian JIRA / Fisheye / Stash

Compensation Package :

HORIBA Instruments offers a competitive compensation package that includes a 401(k) plan with match; employee group dental, vision, life, and disability (short and long-term) paid for by the company; medical insurance, family dental and vision insurance, and supplemental life insurance available with reasonable employee contributions; employee assistance program; paid holidays, vacation, and sick time; flexible spending accounts; and educational reimbursement and commuter benefit programs. Qualified candidates can expect to earn between $105,000-$130,000 depending on experience.
