Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician for a De Pere, WI facility. This direct-hire role features a rotating 12-hour schedule with six days off each month, and compensation up to $29.50/hour.

You will troubleshoot and overhaul automated production machinery, work with AC/DC motor drives and PLCs, and participate in ongoing training while supporting a stable production environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 4+ years of hands-on industrial machinery experience.
• Experience identifying and repairing faults in AC/DC motor drives and PLC environments.
• Willingness to work a structured 12-hour rotating schedule including weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical faults on automated production machinery.
• Repair and overhaul components; perform emergency breakdown repairs.

• Interface with PLCs; trace logic and clear line stoppages.

Overview

A market-leading manufacturer with a long operating history and remarkably low employee turnover is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician for its Greater Green Bay area facility. This is a direct-hire opportunity within a stable, state-of-the-art production environment currently undergoing multi-million-dollar infrastructure expansion, offering a predictable rotating 12-hour schedule that builds in 6 consecutive days off every month.

What you'll do

• Perform comprehensive mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, component overhauls, and emergency breakdown repairs on automated production machinery
• Diagnose, calibrate, and resolve operational faults within AC and DC variable-speed motor drive systems and industrial power controls
• Interface with industrial PLCs to trace electrical logic, isolate input/output errors, and clear line stoppages
• Read and apply complex electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and ladder diagrams to complete safe, precise equipment overhauls
• Communicate clearly during shift hand-offs to maintain operational continuity and support structured preventative maintenance routines
• Travel occasionally (roughly two days every other month) for advanced technical training or regional collaboration

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology / Automated Systems OR 4+ years of equivalent hands-on industrial machinery breakdown experience (Associate's degree plus 2 years also accepted)
• Practical, hands-on experience identifying and repairing faults in AC/DC motor drives and working within industrial PLC environments
• Work history showing a maximum of 2 employers in the past 5 years
• Willingness and ability to work a structured 12-hour rotating schedule that includes scheduled weekend coverage
• Residence within a 45-minute radius of the Greater Green Bay, WI area
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder

Preferred qualifications

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial hydraulic pumps, proportional valves, and heavy-duty pneumatic circuits
• Background using dial indicators, laser alignment tools, or precision optical alignment setup for heavy power transmission equipment
• Familiarity with industrial robotic arm movement, servo drive systems, or automated material handling setups
