Job summary

Symbotic is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician to repair and calibrate its automated systems, including Automated Adapters, Lifts and robotic vehicles. You will act as the system expert across mechanical, PLC, electrical subsystems and maintain CMMS documentation.

The role focuses on safety, throughput, and continuous operation, requiring experience with electro-mechanical systems, schematic troubleshooting and ability to work on-site at customer facilities.

Qualifications

  • Associatedegree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing or equivalent field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience with mechanical automation systems or educational/training equivalent.
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work independent of supervisor following procedures and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety commitments per OSHA, Symbotic, and customer processes are met daily.
  • Inspect systems associated with Automated Storage and Retrieval System and adapters/lifts.
  • Calibrate, repair, replace or modify system components to support continuous operation.
  • Troubleshoot robotic vehicles using schematics and wiring diagrams and advanced test equipment.
  • Operate and run automated systems and document actions in CMMS.

The Automation Maintenance Technician will repair and calibrate our automated and robotic systems.These systems areSymbotic’sAutomated Adapters, Vertical Lifts, andSymbotic’sfleet of automated robotic vehicles. An Automation Maintenance Technician will become the system expert ofSymbotic’sautomation, including all mechanical, PLC, electrical or electronic subsystems.You will alsobe responsible forsystemupkeepand operations of automated adapters used tointerfacewiththeSymboticstructure.

The Automation Maintenance Technician I is part of the Customer Operations organization whichis responsible forleading the day-to-day operations ofSymbotic’srobotic material handling system. The Customer Operations organization drives operational excellence by engaging and partnering with our onsite customers to drive best-in-class quality,safetyand system performance.

Whatyou’lldo
  • Ensure that the safety commitments in compliance with OSHA,Symbotic, and our customers’ processes and procedures are met daily.

  • Perform inspections on systems associated with Automated Storage and Retrieval System of automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/ Lifts.

  • Support continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing,replacingormodifyingsystem components.

  • Process andmonitorthe flow of the automated storage and retrieval system, through means of the adapters, including manual inbound, automatic inbound, automatic outbound, to achievemaximumthroughput and cases per hour.

  • Troubleshoot automated robotic vehicle anomalies and stoppages using schematic and wiring diagrams as well as advanced test equipment.

  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) knowledge and troubleshooting.

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to follow electro-mechanical diagrams.

  • Perform periodic system inspections within expected durations on all equipment and thoroughly document all actions and repairs to include parts used and labor. Ensure quality maintenance and complete documentation via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Effective communication of production impacting problems and suggested actions, including approximate time required for corrective and emergency maintenance torequiredteam members.

  • Must be able tooperateand run Automated systems.

  • Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and changecoursebased on immediate business needs.

  • Responsible for cleanup of equipment and removal of replaced parts from work areas after repairs are completed.

  • Responsible for automated robotic vehicle recovery in theSymboticMatrix select system to include working in restrictive environments.

  • Responsible for minor utility work such as machining holes,brackets;cuttingsteel;aligningsensors;attachingUnistrut;etc()).

  • Responsible for troubleshooting, calibration, set up, and tool changes on Robotic arms.

  • Responsible for continuous cleaning and adhering to 5S policies.

  • Perform Cell Operator functions as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Whatyou’llneed

Our Environment
  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPErequired(hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure.Youmaybe requiredto routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.

  • Frequent ability tosafely and efficiently lift items weighingup to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs.

  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and isfrequentlyrequiredto walk and reach with hands andarms.

  • The employeeis routinely required towork at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. Where you may needtobe able tostand,climb, balance,stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet. Mustcomply withall safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $25.96 - $35.96 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
