Job summary

Americold in Georgia is seeking a warehouse maintenance technician who will observe, learn, and assist with repairs on doors, conveyors, racks, and related systems, ensuring OSHA standards are met.

You will perform routine maintenance, tests on safety equipment, document findings, and support housekeeping. Training will be provided to work on electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Observe, learn, and assist with basic repairs and adjustments of warehouse equipment in OSHA-compliant manner.
• Attend and participate in all training sessions directed.
• Clean, change, and lubricate machinery parts using appropriate tools.
• Maintain tools, machinery, and shop areas in clean and operational condition.
• Conduct tests of safety equipment to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Maintain preventive maintenance records and assist with security alarm calls.
• Perform housekeeping and keep work areas organized.
• Other essential duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

You will observe, learn, and assist with basic repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the warehouse including doors, dock levelers, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet trucks, and electrical work in accordance with OSHA standards. You will participate in assigned training, maintain tools and machinery, conduct safety equipment tests, and keep accurate preventive maintenance records while performing housekeeping duties as required. This role after training would have you working on electrical and mechanical systems such as turntables, label printers, conveyor belts, automated weighing and packaging systems, VFD's, Servo Motors, sensors, etc.

Essential Functions

• Observe, learn, and assist with basic repairs and adjustments of warehouse equipment and systems in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Attend and participate in all assigned training sessions as directed.
• Clean, change, and lubricate machinery parts using appropriate tools and methods.
• Maintain tools, machinery, and shop areas in clean and operational condition.
• Conduct tests of safety equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and assist with answering security alarm calls as needed.
• Perform housekeeping duties and keep work areas organized according to established standards.

• Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.

What Experience and Education You Need

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude required.
• Mathematical and documentation skills required.
• Basic computer skills required including email, internet searches, and basic data entry.

• May be expected to participate in HAZMAT responder training.

What Could Set You Apart

• Experience with Electrical and Mechanical systems (turntables, palletizers, stretch wrapping machines, label printers, conveyor belts, automated weighing and packaging systems, VFD's, Servo Motors, sensors, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, etc.)
  
• Ability to read and interpret parts diagrams and maintenance manuals to diagnose issues on electro-mechanical systems.

Physical Requirements

• Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).
• Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.
• Able to work in confined areas.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs.
• Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
• Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.
• Able to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. (Use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia.)
• Depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam.
• Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment.
• Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks.
