Role Summary

The Automation Technician is a technical expert responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing advanced manufacturing automation systems in a high‑volume distribution and production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems up to 480 V, including motors, drives, transformers, control panels, and power distribution systems.
  • Diagnose and repair PLC‑controlled equipment using Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, and other industrial control platforms.
  • Troubleshoot servo systems, variable frequency drives, HMIs, sensors, encoders, and networked control systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on robotic sortation systems, AMRs, SureSort equipment, conveyors, and automated packaging systems.
  • Optimize equipment performance to improve uptime, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions for recurring failures.
  • Support engineering projects, installations, and system upgrades.
  • Recommend design and process improvements based on equipment performance data.
  • Mentor and train technicians on troubleshooting techniques, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and vendors to resolve complex issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards.
  • Support after‑hours and weekend maintenance as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in industrial maintenance with a strong focus on manufacturing automation.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with AMRs, SureSort systems, and automated distribution equipment.
