Job summary
Sandia National Laboratories seeks an experienced software/hardware integration research engineer to lead automation and instrumentation for the Z-Beamlet Laser (ZBL) facility. The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, cross‑organizational leadership, and the integration of advanced diagnostic tools into the control system.
You will collaborate with R&D engineers, define requirements, and develop plans to implement new hardware and diagnostics, ensuring robust testing and documentation for
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead integration, development, and operation of automation and instrumentation for Z-Beamlet Laser (ZBL).
- Collaborate with R&D engineers to define requirements and plans for new hardware and diagnostics.
- Test, debug, and integrate new functionality into the ZBL control system with software and hardware.
- Develop AI/ML diagnostic capabilities for ZBL operations.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and prepare detailed documentation.
