Job summary

Hoffer Plastics Corporation in Illinois seeks an Automation Helper to join a growing, third-generation U.S. company committed to people, plastics and purpose.

Starting pay is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience, with full training, extensive benefits, night-shift premiums and unlimited career potential.

Qualifications

• Must-have: pursuing Bachelor’s or 2-year technical degree.
• Experience troubleshooting and improving Electrical Control, Vision System, PLC, Robotics, and continuous motion systems preferred.
• Machining background in Mill and Lathe preferred.
• Mechanical comprehension; ability to read blueprints.
• Strong CAD skills (Solidworks and/or ProE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• All machinery at press or Assembly dept used in second operations.
• Assist Automation dept with vendor/repair shop errands; communicate with outside vendors.
• Observe, assist and learn basic operation of automation machinery.
• Organize and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment.
• Keep work area neat and orderly; follow housekeeping duties.
• Observe safety rules and wear PPE as required.
• This description does not cover all duties; team members may perform other related tasks.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere; contribute to continuous improvement; comply with safety regulations.

Be introduced to the design, develop and implementation of Automation solutions. Learn the process of programming, repairing and maintaining all automated machinery and auxiliary equipment as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• All machinery located at the press or in the Assembly department used in second operations
• Assist the Automation department with running errands to vendors / repair shops etc. Must be able to effectively communicate to outside vendors.
• Observe, assist and learn the basic operation of automation machinery.
• The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
• Preform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment
• Maintain work area in neat and orderly manner. General housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Observe safety rules and wearing of prescribed protective clothing or items.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Working in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels and will require spending a significant amount of time moving around on the manufacturing floor.
• Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift.
• Lifting up to fifty-five pounds (55).
• Bending, stooping, twisting, balancing, kneeling and crouching is involved in the regular execution of duties.
• Ability to push and pull items.
• Ability to ascend/descend, work atop and traverse molding machines, assembly equipment, ladders and aerial lift equipment,
• Ability to work occasionally in small cramped spaces.
• Must wear appropriate PPE including fire retardant apparel.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in a related field or a 2-year technical degree
• Experience troubleshooting and improving Electrical Control, Vision System, PLC Systems, Robotics and continuous motion systems strongly preferred.
• Machining background in Mill and Lathe preferred
• Mechanical comprehension preferred blueprints
• Ability to read and interpret prints and diagrams preferred
• Strong general computer skills including CAD (Solidworks and/or ProE) preferred
