Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Daytona Beach, FL is seeking an Engineering professional to maintain automation systems and drive optimization of material handling equipment. You will work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks, monitor system metrics, and provide rapid escalation support across the site.

The role requires a degree in CS/EE/Automation or related PLC experience, flexibility to work nights/weekends, and familiarity with PLC-based

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/Automation or equivalent or 2+ years PLC programming experience
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and/or weekends
  • Experience in PLC-based controls design, development, implementation and support
  • Experience with material handling or industrial control systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations
  • Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, FC Start-up, AFT Software, ACES and Safety for MHE optimization and projects
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and work with maintenance/ops to address performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians locally and remotely
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review to drive continuous improvement
  • Perform and analyze building system assessments to enhance material handling performance
  • Communicate technical issues and timelines clearly to managers and staff

Key job responsibilities
  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining the automation systems that are critical for operations
  • Collaborate with building Operations, Operations Engineering teams, FC Start-up Team, AFT Software teams, ACES team, and Safety in supporting MHE systems optimization and project implementation
  • Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues and provide analysis across all operations
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, both locally and remotely
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes to drive continuous improvement
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines clearly to building managers, operations staff and maintenance teams
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation and support
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in dealing with material handling, flow and capacity
  • Experience with Industrial control systems, both hardware and software

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
