Alcon is seeking an Automation Engineer II for our Fort Worth, TX manufacturing facility. This role supports the External Projects Team and drives advanced automation initiatives across production lines, ensuring robust control systems and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Siemens), SCADA/MES/ATTP support, and maintaining rigorous documentation while managing project funding from development through go-live.

Responsibilities

• Drive implementation of the latest automation improvements in manufacturing, including AI/ML, cobots, AMR, and automated end-of-line systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen Bradley/Siemens) and SCADA/MES/ATTP systems.
• Design, develop, implement, operate and maintain automation control systems and instrumentation.
• Manage committed capital funding for assigned projects from development to go-live.
• Make decisions influencing project outcomes while ensuring SOPs and strict documentation.
• Adhere to GxP and maintain compliance with quality controls and training requirements.
• Collaborate with the External Projects Team and other stakeholders to meet project objectives.

We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As an Automation Engineer II supporting the External Projects Team at our Manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, TX.

Responsibilities

• Drive implementation of the latest technological advancements in manufacturing processes such as integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) systems, cobots, autonomous mobile robots (AMR), fully automated end-of-line packaging systems (case erecting, packing, sealing, and robotic palletizing), and automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).
• Optimize continuous improvement initiatives by utilizing basic Lean Six Sigma Tools in areas of safety, quality, throughput improvement, line balancing, engineering problems and cost reductions.
• Provide production support through PLC program troubleshooting (Allen Bradley and Siemens), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Advanced Track and Trace for Pharmaceuticals (ATTP).
• Handle complex tasks related to the design, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of instrument/electrical and automation control systems.
• Manage the allotted committed capital funding to each assigned project from development, implementation, and go-live support.
• Make significant decisions within your project area, influencing project outcomes.
• Adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training.
• Responsible for meeting their individual project job requirements and contributing to the overall compliance of the organization.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
