Job summary

Novo Nordisk A/S is seeking an Engineering professional to manage and optimize Process Control and MES interfaces for existing and new equipment. You will work with Process Engineers and Operations to review specifications and ensure systems meet local and global standards, acting as a gatekeeper for automation standards.

You will collaborate with IT, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure compliant, efficient manufacturing execution while supporting audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, or packaging systems preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in Emerson Syncade or PAS-X, DCS/SCADA, SQL, and Microsoft programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) platform for real-time data capture and integrations.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing schedules to plan execution of projects.
  • Serve as automation resource on MES projects and ensure compliance with standards.

The Position

Work with business stakeholders and/or project team and vendors to ensure Process Control Systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems for existing and/or new equipment and processes are in alignment with local and global standards. Work with Process Engineers and Operations to create and review System Functional Specifications, Recipe Design Specifications, and requirements ensuring the equipment/system is configured and tested and ready be used in local manufacturing, meeting all requirements through people & equipment focus, as well as serving as gatekeeper for standards.

Relationships

Reports to Manager, Senior Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Configure and support our Manufacturing Execution Systems platform, enabling real time production data capture, automated workflows, equipment configuration, and system integrations to ensure compliant, efficient manufacturing execution
  • Schedule & execute plans in coordination with manufacturing schedules
  • Operate as automation resource on projects that involve Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Own self-development & initiative to understand the site process control systems
  • Adhere to the automation standards & implement the necessary changes to the automation-related specifications & maintenance plans
  • Support audits & inspections for process control systems
  • Utilize the appropriate cLEAN tools within the main areas of Systematic Problem Solving, process improvement, & project management
  • Operate within compliance with a Quality Mindset that focuses on risk management & mitigation
  • Support Corporate, PS, local IT, & local stakeholder initiatives & projects
  • Participate in the development of new SOPs, best practices and maintenance procedures
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field of study from an accredited university required:
  • May consider an Associate’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university with a minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
  • May consider a High School Degree/GED with a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
  • Minimum of three (3) years engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
  • Knowledgeable in the following technologies: Emerson Syncade or PAS-X, DCS/SCADA, SQL (databases), and Microsoft Programing languages (VB.Net, PowerShell, C#). Emerson DeltaV is a plus
  • Proven expertise in planning/organization/execution of engineering activities a plus
  • Ability to follow-up on results & revising the work plan for moderately complex problems being resolved by cross functional teams a plus
  • Ability to translate high level direction into actionable tasks that deliver results using cLEAN / Six Sigma methodologies a plus.
