Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Automation Engineer to own automation initiatives within a highly automated manufacturing environment. You will design, implement, and optimize systems across robotics, PLCs, and vision systems, collaborating with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in manufacturing automation, strong PLC/HMI skills, and experience with CAD tools. This role offers ownership of projects, growth within engineering, and a competitive benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of automation engineering experience in a manufacturing setting (prefer automotive).
• Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens or similar).
• Experience with automation hardware: robotics, HMI/SCADA, vision systems, machine controls.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, machine safety, and control systems.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing systems including robotics, PLCs, vision systems, conveyors, and automated production equipment.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI/SCADA systems supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
• Integrate new automation technologies into existing processes and optimize equipment performance.
• Lead root cause analyses and drive long-term corrective actions for automation issues.
• Support preventive maintenance strategies for automated equipment and partner with cross-functional teams to drive improvements.
• Lead automation projects from concept to implementation while coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
• Ensure automation systems comply with safety standards and manufacturing best practices.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing systems including robotics, PLCs, vision systems, conveyors, and automated production equipment.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI/SCADA systems supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.

• Partner with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead automation projects from concept through implementation while coordinating with vendors and equipment suppliers.
• Ensure automation systems comply with industry safety standards and manufacturing best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of automation engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
• Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
• Experience with industrial robotics, HMI/SCADA systems, vision systems, and machine controls.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, machine safety, and control systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software is a plus.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is highly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
