Job summary

Conagra Brands is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to lead automation and electrical projects that support safe, efficient plant operations. You will provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and system alignment with company standards while supporting continuous improvement across the site.

The role focuses on daily automation support, executing projects to improve equipment reliability, developing training, and ensuring safety, environmental, and GMP compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, IT, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of PLC programming experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical principles and components (HMI, servo, VFD, sensors, instrumentation).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills; apply engineering principles in complex situations.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (FDA, USDA, or PSM) is a plus.
  • Ability to read safety rules, blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Proficiency with standard programs (email, MS Office).

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily automation support to operations and facilities teams.
  • Execute automation and electrical projects to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Develop and deliver training to strengthen automation, electrical, and instrumentation knowledge.
  • Align IT/OT infrastructure, programming, and equipment with company standards.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and support Early Management and PM initiatives.
  • Support equipment obsolescence planning and ensure safety, environmental and GMP compliance.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate across teams, including off‑hours support.

Job description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will lead automation and electrical projects that support safe, efficient plant operations. You will provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and system alignment with company standards while supporting continuous improvement across the site.

A Taste Of Your Responsibilities
  • Provide daily automation support to operations and facilities teams
  • Execute automation and electrical projects to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Develop and deliver training to strengthen automation, electrical, and instrumentation knowledge across the site
  • Align information technology and operational technology infrastructure, programming, and equipment with company standards
  • Participate in daily production meetings and support Early Management and Preventive Maintenance initiatives
  • Partner on equipment obsolescence planning and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and good manufacturing practices requirements
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate across teams, including providing off‑hours support as needed
Ingredients Required For Your Success
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, information technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of programmable logic controller programming experience
  • Knowledge of electrical principles and components such as human machine interfaces, servo controllers, variable frequency drives, sensors, and process instrumentation
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the capability to apply engineering principles in complex situations
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments such as Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, or Process Safety Management is a plus
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, blueprints, electrical schematics, and piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Proficiency with standard computer programs, including email and Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements

You may be required to walk around the facility, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, or perform repetitive tasks that require hand‑eye coordination.

You may be required to lift or carry materials that can vary in weight and size.

This is a manufacturing environment with large, moving equipment. Noise levels can be high, and temperatures may vary.

Compensation

Pay Range: $64,000 - $95,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
