Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) in Valley Green, PA is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Cable Backplane Systems team. The role focuses on developing automated tooling, systems, and validation within a high‑speed interconnect environment.

The candidate should have 5+ years in mechanical/robotic engineering with PLCs, electrical controls, and strong analytical skills, plus willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• MS in Mechanical or Robotic Engineering with 5+ years experience, or BS with 10+ years.
• Experience with automation, PLCs, and electrical controls.
• Proficient with solid modeling tools; Creo/Pro/E preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical people.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts, write scope of work, and design, testing, deploying tooling and validation of automated systems.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturers on prototypes, pilot production and deployment of high-volume factory automation.
• Demonstrate machining experience and design throughout the project lifecycle.

We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking a Automation Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems team located in Valley Green (Etters), PA.

High speed cable backplane systems enable most of the world's IT and datacom; including leading the way for the AI/ML revolution; and require some of the most advanced manufacturing technologies, and highest levels of precision, in the engineering world. These challenges require the most creative, technical minds, and ultimately provide the most rewarding experience for an employee.

This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented and innovative Automation Engineer to join a global technology company that is the leader in the high-speed interconnect industry. You will be an integral part of a cross-functional team responsible for new product development. Product development team engineering disciplines include Mechanical Design, Signal Integrity, Mechanical Integrity, Manufacturing, and Process Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job functions include developing concepts, writing scope of work documents, and designing, testing, deploying tooling and validation of automated systems. Candidates will work closely with external suppliers and manufacturers, supporting the development, fabrication and build of prototypes, pilot production and deployment of high-volume factory automation. Candidates should also have experience with machining as well as design.

• MS (with 5+ years' experience) or BS (with 10+ years) in Mechanical or Robotic Engineering
• Must have experience with automation, PLCs, and electrical controls
