Job summary

Datgroup LLC is seeking a mid-level Operations & Automation Engineer to keep our federal enterprise API platform running smoothly and improve it each sprint. You’ll split time between hands-on platform operations and Tier 2 support for teams building on and consuming APIs.

You’ll troubleshoot REST APIs with Apigee, work across AWS and Linux, and build CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm. Strong communication with engineers and stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 4+ years in platform engineering.
• Strong REST API troubleshooting and API gateway experience (Apigee preferred).
• Working knowledge of AWS, Linux, CI/CD, and networking.
• Scripting in Python, Node.js, or Bash.

Responsibilities

Operations & Automation Engineer | United States / Remote | Full-Time

Datgroup is hiring a mid-level Operations & Automation Engineer to keep a federal enterprise API platform running smoothly and make it better every sprint. You’ll split your time between hands-on platform operations and Tier 2 support for the teams that build on and consume the platform’s APIs.

What you’ll do

• Troubleshoot REST APIs and Apigee gateway issues: auth, payloads, connectivity, rate limits
• Handle escalated Tier 2 issues from API consumers and producers
• Support deployments, maintenance, and recovery across AWS and RHEL
• Build CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and Ansible
• Run containerized deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
• Turn recurring problems into fixes: scripts, automations, runbooks, or process changes

What you bring

• US Citizenship (required for Public Trust); DHS USCIS Public Trust a plus
• Bachelor’s plus 4+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent), including 3+ years in platform engineering
• Strong REST API troubleshooting and API gateway experience (Apigee strongly preferred)
• Working knowledge of AWS, Linux, CI/CD, and networking
• Independent skill in Terraform-based IaC or Kubernetes/Helm deployments
• Scripting in Python, Node.js, or Bash
• Clear communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have: AWS (EKS, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda), RHCSA / AWS / Kubernetes / Terraform certifications, federal program experience
