Job summary

Agropur Cooperative seeks an Automation Engineer in Luxemburg, WI, responsible for plant-wide automation and controls. You will program PLCs and HMIs, troubleshoot networks, and implement new policies to improve process efficiency.

The role involves designing new panels, interfacing with field devices, and mentoring technicians. The ideal candidate has PLC/HMI and drive programming experience, CAD skills, and at least three years in manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Technical School Degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Dairy and project management experience preferred.
  • PLC/HMI and Drive programming knowledge required.
  • Experience using CAD software required.

Responsibilities

  • Plant-wide programming of automation and controls systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC/HMI programs.
  • Troubleshoot Ethernet networks and field instruments.
  • Modify and design control panels and wiring.
  • Program VFDs, sensors, and devices.
  • Train and develop team members and technicians.
  • Manage projects from concept to implementation.
  • Maintain process-related computers and systems.
  • Support efficiencies, throughput, safety, and quality goals.

Being part of the team means committing to an environment where everyone’s impact truly matters.At Agropur, each role aims to generate value and have a tangible impact on collective performance.Context to maximize your impact:Salary range 005: $84,200 - $105,200 (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position.)Work Schedule: Monday - FridayMedical, Dental, Vision, Life, Short and Long-term Disability Insurance401(k) with 7% company contributions3 weeks Paid Time OffPaid holidays and 2 floating holidaysPaid parental leaveAdvancement OpportunitiesWhere you will drive value:We are looking for a Automation Engineer in Luxemburg, WI.The Automation Engineer is responsible for the plant-wide programming of automation and controls systems along with facilitating projects, assisting with troubleshooting, training technicians, and implementing new policies and procedures.Responsible for all aspects of HMI’s including modifying existing graphics, creating new graphics based on an existing library of blocks, alarms, trends, backing up and restoring HMI projects, maintaining and troubleshooting industrial PC’s and touchscreens .Configure and interface with many different types of field instruments with both Ethernet/IP and hardwired IO including VFDs, level sensors, flow meters, chart recorders, photo eye’s, temperature sensors, etc.Modify existing control panels and design new control panels as needed including AC and DC power distribution, fuses, breakers, terminal blocks, power supplies, etc. Must be able to conform to all appropriate electrical standards including NFPA 70E.Troubleshoot and maintain Ethernet networks as needed. Must have at least a basic understanding of IP addresses, netmasks, gateways, DNS, switches, routers, and cat5(e) wiring.Troubleshoot and maintain various communication networks, DH+, ControlNet, DeviceNet, IO Link, etc.Assist with problem solving to keep the plant running.Troubleshoot and modify existing PLC and HMI programs.Write new programs for PLCs, and HMIs.Program VFDs, sensors, networks, chart recorders, and miscellaneous devices.Manage and implement projects as assigned.Train and develop team members.Maintain process-related computers and systems.Help with systems/structure for maintaining equipment and department documentation.Help production with efficiencies, throughput, safety, and quality.Work with management on new ideas or policies from concept to implementation.What will enable you to have an impact:Associate or Technical School Degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation preferred.Bachelor's Degree preferred.Equivalent combination of education and/or experienced may be considered.Minimum three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.Dairy and project management experience preferred.PLC/HMI and Drive programming knowledge required.Experience using CAD software required.A role aligned with what creates the greatest collective impact.#CH-1Agropur welcomes people from all backgrounds and origins.
