Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks an Automation Engineer to design and deploy substation automation solutions with a focus on reliability and cybersecurity. You will work on projects that power communities, leveraging MicroSCADA and IEC 61850 to deliver safe, resilient energy systems.

You will collaborate with global stakeholders, support FAT/SAT and commissioning on-site and remotely, and continuously improve technologies to advance electrification across utility networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in substation automation or industrial control systems.
• Hands-on experience with MicroSCADA configuration and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850 and related communication protocols; cybersecurity familiarity.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; work authorization for the US.

Responsibilities

How You’ll Make an Impact

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in substation automation or industrial control systems.
• Hands‑on experience with MicroSCADA configuration and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850 and related communication protocols.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for automation systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
