Job summary

Alexander Associates Technical Recruitment represents a leading engineering consultancy in Houston seeking an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer. You will design instrumentation, controls and SCADA systems for municipal water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants and pump stations.

The role involves PLC programming, HMI development, P&IDs, system testing, commissioning and cross-disciplinary coordination across Civil, Process, Mechanical and Electrical teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Controls, Automation, SCADA or Instrumentation engineering.
• Water/Wastewater or municipal infrastructure experience preferred.
• Experience with PLC programming and SCADA/HMI development.
• Knowledge of platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA/Wonderware, VTScada.
• Understanding of instrumentation, industrial networks and process control systems.
• PE license preferred but not essential.

I’m representing a leading engineering consultancy that’s looking to strengthen their Water/Wastewater Automation team with an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer in Houston. This position will support the design and implementation of instrumentation, controls and SCADA systems across municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump/lift stations and utility networks.

Job Specification

• Design instrumentation, controls and automation systems for municipal water and wastewater facilities
• Develop PLC programming, HMI applications and SCADA system configurations
• Prepare P&IDs, I/O lists, control narratives, loop diagrams, instrumentation schedules and technical specifications
• Support SCADA system architecture, industrial networks and communications infrastructure
• Work on projects including WTPs, WWTPs, pump stations, lift stations and distribution/collection systems
• Participate in system testing, FAT/SAT, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting activities
• Coordinate with Civil, Process, Mechanical and Electrical engineering teams throughout project delivery
• Support SCADA master planning, control system upgrades and modernisation projects
• Attend client meetings and provide technical support throughout design and construction
• Assist with project schedules, budgets and technical deliverables

Key Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience within Controls, Automation, SCADA or Instrumentation engineering
• Previous Water/Wastewater or municipal infrastructure experience strongly preferred
• Experience with PLC programming and SCADA/HMI development
• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley / Rockwell, Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA/Wonderware, VTScada or similar platforms
• Understanding of instrumentation, industrial networks and process control systems
• Experience with commissioning and system integration beneficial
• PE license preferred but not essential
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Controls/Automation Engineering or related Engineering discipline
