Job description

Movement Search and Delivery is working with a manufacturer in El Paso, TX metro area to identify and evaluate an Automation Engineer.

About the Role:

This is a cradle-to-grave automation ownership role. Our client is looking for a hands-on robotics and automation expert to take ownership of their existing ABB robotic systems and lead the expansion of automation across the plant. You would be the dedicated engineering resource with high visibility and a clear runway to shape automation strategy for the entire facility, not just maintain what is there.

What You Will Do:
  • Own the full lifecycle of existing ABB robotic cells: 6 robots across 2 fully automated lines (3 robots per line)
  • Study and document how current programs run, including press-to-robot communication, safety interlocks, PLC logic, and cycle timing
  • Build standard operating procedures from scratch
  • Evaluate whether current processes are running as designed, and correct and optimize where they are not
  • Train plant personnel to troubleshoot and maintain the robotic systems going forward
  • Identify and scope new automation opportunities across the facility, including press brake and paint line operations
  • Advise on and help integrate additional automation such as part loading, laser systems, and camera/vision systems
  • Work cross-functionally to understand how mechanical, electrical, and software systems interact, and where a robot could reasonably be added next
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Deep hands-on experience with ABB robots in a production manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of PLCs, safety systems, and how robotics integrate with large mechanical press operations
  • Ability to reverse-engineer and document existing automated systems with little to no existing documentation
  • Comfort building SOPs and training programs from the ground upA consultative mindset; this role is as much about assessing and advising on the art of the possible as it is about hands-on programming
  • Experience or strong interest in expanding automation into new areas of a plant
