Job summary

Prysmian is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Automation group, supporting manufacturing of optical fiber. This role focuses on PC and PLC-based controls, developing and maintaining PLC programs, and providing technical automation support on the production floor in North Carolina.

Responsibilities include commissioning new equipment, resolving production issues, backing up critical files, and ensuring safety compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 guidelines.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience with programming Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and/or Siemens PLCs.
• Prefer experience with fiber optic or highly automated industries.
• Prefer experience with PLC programming.
• Prefer Profibus, Ethernet and Modbus+ communication protocols.
• Prefer HM I software with PC-to-PLC and PC-to-Database transactions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC programs.
• Provide controls and automation support for the manufacture of optical fiber.
• Help resolve daily production issues related to equipment or control software.
• Support the commissioning of new equipment for production.
• Ensure proper backups of all programs and critical support files are maintained per plant standards.
• Comply with safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines.
