Python / Ansible Automation Engineer – JFrog Artifactory

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Python / Automation Engineer with strong hands‑on experience with JFrog Artifactory, Python, and Ansible Tower automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise DevOps automation and software delivery, with proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and using Jira and user stories to manage development work.

This role will focus heavily on automating software delivery, artifact management, deployment processes, and infrastructure workflows within a large‑scale enterprise environment.

Required Skills & Experience

1. JFrog Artifactory – Mandatory

• Strong hands‑on experience with JFrog Artifactory in an enterprise environment.
• Experience managing, publishing, retrieving, and promoting software artifacts through Artifactory.
• Candidates with genuine Artifactory experience should also have familiarity with the broader JFrog ecosystem, including:
• JFrog Xray for artifact security, vulnerability scanning, and policy management.
• JFrog Distribution / Edge for artifact distribution and deployment across environments.
• Experience integrating Artifactory into CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery processes.
• Understanding of artifact repositories, versioning, repositories, permissions, and software promotion workflows.

2. Python – Mandatory

• Strong hands‑on Python development and scripting experience.
• Experience developing automation tools, scripts, APIs, and utilities using Python.
• Ability to integrate Python applications with enterprise infrastructure, DevOps tools, APIs, and automation platforms.
• Experience troubleshooting and enhancing existing Python automation solutions.
• Strong understanding of Python programming, scripting, data handling, error handling, and integration patterns.

3. Ansible Tower Automation – Mandatory

• Strong hands‑on experience with Ansible Tower automation.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and executing Ansible playbooks, roles, and workflows.
• Ability to automate application deployment, configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and operational processes.
• Experience integrating Ansible Tower with enterprise CI/CD and software delivery environments.
• Experience troubleshooting automation jobs, playbooks, inventories, credentials, and workflow dependencies.
• Knowledge of integrating Ansible Tower with Python, JFrog Artifactory, and other DevOps tools is highly desirable.

Agile / Scrum Experience – Required

• Confirmed experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Experience participating in Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers, DevOps engineers, QA, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in an environment with iterative development, continuous improvement, and frequent releases.
• Confirmed hands‑on experience using Jira for Agile project and development tracking.
• Experience working from user stories, acceptance criteria, epics, tasks, and defects.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into actionable development and automation tasks.
• Experience updating Jira tickets, tracking sprint progress, and communicating status to technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based automation supporting enterprise technology and software delivery processes.
• Design and implement Ansible Tower automation for deployment, configuration, infrastructure, and operational workflows.
• Manage and integrate JFrog Artifactory into automated CI/CD and artifact‑management processes.
• Support JFrog Xray and JFrog Distribution/Edge capabilities as part of the enterprise artifact lifecycle.
• Automate artifact promotion, deployment, configuration, and environment management.
• Integrate Python, Ansible Tower, Artifactory, and other enterprise DevOps tools.
• Troubleshoot automation failures, deployment issues, artifact problems, and pipeline dependencies.
• Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and execution.
• Create and maintain Jira user stories, tasks, technical documentation, and implementation details.
• Help identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability, deployment efficiency, and operational processes.
• Support continuous integration and continuous delivery practices across enterprise environments.

Required Qualifications

• Strong professional experience with JFrog Artifactory.
• Hands‑on experience with JFrog Xray and/or Distribution/Edge.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Jira and user stories.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative enterprise technology environment.

Must-Have Screening Criteria

Candidates must demonstrate all of the following:

• JFrog Artifactory – including knowledge/experience with Xray and Distribution/Edge.
• Jira and user‑story experience.

Candidates missing any of the three core technical skills — JFrog Artifactory, Python, or Ansible Tower — should not be considered.
