Job summary

Pilkington North America Inc. is seeking a highly skilled automation engineer at the Shelbyville, IN facility to support a 24/7 operation. The role involves programming, upgrading, and maintaining PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and automation equipment on the production floor.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, system enhancements, and training for plant personnel. The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering and manufacturing automation.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, robotics, machine vision and CAD.
• Strong PLC/HMI programming skills and power, motors & controls knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs, barcode readers, HMIs, Robots, and PCs as necessary.
• Modify and upgrade existing production equipment.
• Coordinate all project controls/electrical activities to meet timing, quality, and cost targets.
• Provide troubleshooting for automation equipment and safety improvements.
• Develop safeguards and train plant personnel on new systems.
