Job summary

GeorgeE. Booth Co., Inc is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to design, program, and maintain Rockwell-based automation systems in the Greater Chicagoland area.

The role emphasizes FAT/SAT testing, electrical schematics, and panel layouts, with opportunities to work on SCADA and HMIs and to train less experienced engineers. Full benefits apply, and travel up to 60% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field (or 4+ years industry experience).
• Solid understanding of PLC programming concepts and Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix, Studio 5000, CCW).
• Familiarity with FAT/SAT procedures.
• Experience with SCADA/HMI design and configuration is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% locally with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems using Rockwell Automation software (Allen-Bradley) including RS Logix, Studio Logix and Connected Components Workbench.
• Perform FAT and SAT testing according to company standards.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop control system architectures and specifications.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Assist in SCADA system design and configuration including FactoryTalk, Ignition, and ICONICS.

AutomationControls Engineer Responsibilities:

• Design, program, and troubleshootPLC-based control systems using Rockwell Automation software (Allen-Bradley) includingRS Logix, Studio Logix and Connected Components Workbench
• Perform Factory AcceptanceTesting (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in accordance with companystandards
• Collaborate with project teams todevelop control system architectures and specifications
• Develop and maintain electricalschematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
• Assist in SCADA (SupervisoryControl and Data Acquisition) system design and configuration as needed includingFactoryTalk, Ignition, and ICONICS platforms
• Provide technical support toclients and resolve any issues related to automation systems
• Participate in on-sitecommissioning, start-up, and training activities
• Stay updated on industry trends,emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and control systems
• Perform troubleshooting ofcontrols systems, network systems, SCADA systems, and other site specificproblems
• Willingness to train lessexperienced engineers

Requirementsfor the Automation Controls Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in ElectricalEngineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or 4+ years industryexperience
• Solid understanding of PLCprogramming concepts and experience with Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix,Studio 5000, CCW)
• Familiarity with FactoryAcceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) procedures
• Some experience in SCADA and HMIdesign and configuration is preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills andability to troubleshoot complex automation systems
• Possess familiarity and abilityto troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
• Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel to clientsites as needed (up to 60% travel locally with occasional overnight stays)
• Ability to work independently andas part of a team
