Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an I&C/Automation Design Engineer for a DIRECT HIRE position in the West Houston, TX area. The candidate will design industrial control systems including SCADA, PLC, and HMI with emphasis on P&ID development and system architecture.

This role requires 5+ years in I&C design, and involves onsite work (4 days/week) in West Houston with one remote day per week. PE/EIT in Texas preferred and collaboration with engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant design experience in industrial systems (water/wastewater preferred).
• Experience designing SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems is required.
• PE or EIT in Texas preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform site assessments to determine instrumentation and SCADA upgrade needs.
• Review existing project documents (P&ID, system architecture, electrical drawings).
• Coordinate with clients to identify specific needs.
• Document findings with assessments or reports and recommendations.
• Design and develop project drawings (P&ID, system architecture, loop diagrams, installation details).
• Create project specifications for instrumentation, networking, and control narratives for SCADA/PLC/HMI.
• Perform QA/QC of project documents.
• Attend or lead project meetings with clients.
• Review and comment on project submittals.
• Coordinate with Electrical Engineering Department.

Summary:

Akkodis is seeking an I&C/Automation Design Engineer for a DIRECT HIRE position in the W. Houston, TX area. The desired candidate will have 5+ years of previous experience in design for electrical instrument and controls. The I&C Engineer will be responsible for the design/development of industrial control systems including SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems. The main focus will be P&ID development, system architecture, and overall I&C design. This is an excellent opportunity to support an exciting company in the electrical engineering industry.

***Remote 1 day/week, and off every other Friday***

Responsibilities:

• Design/development of project drawings, including P&ID, system architecture, loop diagrams, and installation details
• Create project specifications, including instrumentation, networking, control narrative strategies, software and hardware requirements for SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems
• Quality Control/Quality Assurance of project documents
• Attend/Conduct project meetings with client
• Review and comment on project submittals
• Coordination with Electrical Engineering Department

Required Skills:

• Bachelors Degree in an Engineering related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant design experience is required.
• MUST HAVE design experience for industrial systems like water/wastewater, not looking for mostly Oil/Gas industry experience.
• Must have experience designing SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems.
• Strong background in both AutoCAD preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Texas is preferred.
• Experienced in the design of construction documents.
• Write Technical Memoranda based on site assessment.
• Drawing/PDF markups.
• PLC and SCADA HMI development and creation of PLC I/O lists
• Wide Area Network (WAN) design, including radio and cellular communications
• Fiber optic cable specification
• Physical and cybersecurity assessment and design preferred.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach to challenges, with a focus on team success.
• Strong ability to foster and maintain professional, cross-functional relationships.
