Location: Ashland, Virginia. Relocation assistance offered.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct inspection, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of automation systems such as Valmet DNA DCS controllers, ABB VFD & controllers, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley E300 relays, and ControlLogix. Identify issues proactively to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.
  2. Develop, program, and modify Variable Frequency Drives to enhance system efficiency and adaptability.
  3. Collaborate with production teams to improve plant operational efficiency through control systems, optimizing workflows, and solving process challenges.
  4. Optimize control systems via PID tuning to improve performance, stability, and response time.
  5. Maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems, including schematics, manuals, and SOPs.
  6. Engage with stakeholders to solve problems efficiently and achieve successful outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience (focus on experience over education).
  • Minimum 5 years in automation engineering, preferably in a heavy industrial environment (operating 4160V).
  • Expertise with automated industrial equipment and systems.
  • Proficient in Ladder Logic and Functional Block Diagram programming.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Some travel may be required.
