Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with 1+ year in process control in manufacturing.
  • Experience with web-handling technology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DCS and PLC troubleshooting and upgrades.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve process/equipment issues.
  • Familiarity with PSM elements (PHA, MOC, etc.).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Learn how you can start or jumpstart your career with us. The Kapton® team is seeking an Automation & Process Control Engineer at the Circleville, Ohio facility-30 miles south of Columbus, Ohio.

The role will work with a diverse team of engineers, operators, and mechanics to provide technical expertise and strategic direction to improve our competitive advantage for the manufacturing of Kapton® Polyimide Films. The Kapton® facilities consist of polymer manufacturing, solvent distillation and extraction, film casting, and numerous converting operations such as coating, heat treatment, and slitting.

The Circleville site has a wide variety of on-site engineering disciplines such as R&D and project engineering, in addition to the 30+ engineers in the Kapton® Manufacturing Technology department.

With a focus on optimizing the asset’s control systems, the Automation & Process Control Engineer will lead challenging and exciting programs geared towards improving reliability, capacity, and process efficiency.

The engineer will be exposed to multiple manufacturing processes and provide day‑to‑day support as plant operations require.

The Automation & Process Control Engineer role will work to upgrade processes and machines that may range from incremental improvements to major technology changes.

Goals include improving process efficiency, quality, process safety, yield, plant capacity and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering >1 year of process control engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Preferred experience in web‑handling technology
  • DCS and PLC troubleshooting and upgrade experience (software and hardware)
  • Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve process and equipment issues
  • Working knowledge of key PSM Technology elements (PHA, Process Technology, MOC‑Technology, RAGAGEP, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively both independently and within teams
  • Ability to network across site and corporate resources to gain and share technical knowledge
