Job description

About the Role

As an Automated Pipe Welding Fabricator, you will build high‑quality welded pipe assemblies in a fast-paced fabrication setting. You’ll run mechanized welding and plasma equipment to attach outlets to pipe, complete manual rewelds when necessary, and verify that every piece meets rigorous company and industry standards. You’ll keep materials flowing, follow defined procedures, and help the team meet production schedules while maintaining a safe, tidy workspace.

A Day in the Life

You begin by reviewing work orders, production travelers, and simple fabrication drawings. After checking tooling and verifying settings, you load and position pipe using proper material-handling techniques. You operate automated welding and plasma equipment to weld outlets onto pipe, then perform any needed hand-held rewelds to bring parts to spec. You examine each assembly for quality and compliance, apply certification stamps with the designated tools, and stage finished pipe on carts or in designated areas. When required, you bundle product for shipment using pneumatic banding equipment. Throughout your shift, you measure components with a tape and other devices, maintain output without compromising safety or quality, complete routine equipment checks, and elevate maintenance or safety concerns immediately. You finish by cleaning your station and recording production as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate automated welding and plasma equipment to weld outlets onto pipe per production specifications.
  • Perform manual rewelds using hand‑held equipment to achieve quality standards.
  • Load, position, and unload pipe using proper material‑handling practices.
  • Inspect welded assemblies for conformance to company and industry requirements.
  • Apply required certification stamps to completed welds using designated tools.
  • Move finished pipe to carts and staging areas for downstream processing or shipment.
  • Use pneumatic banding equipment to prepare bundles for shipping when needed.
  • Read work orders, production documents, and basic fabrication drawings accurately.
  • Measure materials with a tape measure and other devices to verify dimensions/specifications.
  • Sustain production output while meeting quality and safety expectations.
  • Complete routine equipment checks and promptly report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas aligned with housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Complete required safety, equipment, and operational training.
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, and all quality requirements.
  • Assist with additional fabrication, warehouse, or production tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior welding experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or production preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete company welding certification requirements.
  • Experience with welding, plasma equipment, or similar fabrication machinery preferred.
  • Background in fast‑paced production environments with daily productivity goals.
  • Basic math skills (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
  • Proficient with a tape measure (minimum 1/4-inch increments; finer preferred).
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production orders, and SOPs.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus.
