Role Description

The AutoCAD Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL. This position is responsible for producing detailed shop drawings and architectural drawings for commercial glazing projects, including curtain walls, storefronts, windows, and glass facades. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting architectural plans, coordinating with project managers and field teams, updating drawings based on design changes, and ensuring all drawings meet company standards and project specifications. The AutoCAD Drafter will also review drawings for accuracy and completeness, support submittal packages, and collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to facilitate efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong technical drawing skills, including proficiency in Technical Drawing and general Drawing for construction and fabrication.
• Experience creating and revising Shop Drawings for commercial glazing or related building systems.
• Ability to interpret and produce Architectural Drawings, with an understanding of Architecture and building design concepts.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (and similar CAD software) for 2D drafting; 3D modeling experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of commercial glazing systems, building envelopes, and basic structural concepts is preferred.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization in managing multiple drawing sets and deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, engineers, and field personnel.
• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in drafting, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Previous experience in construction, glass/glazing, or architectural drafting is highly beneficial.
