Job summary

Paint Prepper position in West Hartford, CT, seeks a motivated candidate to support paint technicians by preparing auto parts for painting and ensuring quality work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a paint prepper in an auto body shop preferred.
• HS Diploma or GED, Auto Body Vo-Tech certification strongly preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Ability to read and understand basic instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
• Multi-tasking; adapt easily to fast-paced environments.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the vehicle for paint by sanding, removal of oils, debris, or imperfections.
• Taping off components where paint should not be applied.
• Assist in the application and preparation of paint after repair work is complete.
• Buff or clean surfaces after the paint dries.
• Correct defects on the finished product.
• Request necessary materials
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area

• HS Diploma or GED, Auto Body Vo-Tech certification strongly preferred

• Ability to effectively communicate with others

• Ability to read and understand basic instructions, written estimates, and work orders

• Multi-tasking; adapt easily to fast-paced environments

• Must be able to wear a respirator

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel and pull

• Extended periods of kneeling, bending, and squatting to complete or inspect repairs

• Carry and lift heavy objects (up to 80lbs)

• Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate equipment

• Standing, sitting, and walking

• Performing repetitive motions
